BRITISH VALUES

British Values at Maltby Redwood Academy

At Maltby Redwood Academy, we are committed to promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance.

These values are embedded across all aspects of school life and are central to our vision of developing confident, respectful and responsible learners.

How we promote British Values

  • Democracy: Pupils have a voice through the School Council, pupil leadership roles and regular opportunities to share their views.
  • Rule of Law: Clear expectations, such as being Ready, Respectful and Safe, help pupils understand rules, fairness and consequences.
  • Individual Liberty: Pupils are encouraged to make choices, take responsibility and develop independence in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance: Through our curriculum, assemblies and daily interactions, pupils learn to respect others and celebrate diversity.

Our approach

British Values are taught through our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and wider school experiences. Pupils explore different cultures, beliefs and communities, helping them to develop a strong understanding of life in modern Britain.

We place a strong emphasis on pupil voice, personal development and inclusion, ensuring that all pupils feel valued and part of our school community.

The impact

As a result, our pupils:

  • Show respect and kindness towards others
  • Understand their role as responsible citizens
  • Feel safe, confident and included
  • Are well prepared for life in modern Britain
